Description
The crimson bled into the deep indigo and “Kinaassutsikkut allanngujuissuseq” came into being. She is an X of 5, limited edition exclusive art print by Henrik B. Hansen as shot in Nov. of 2024 in Aarhus, Denmark. At the time of shooting HBH did not know the beautiful Miiti featured as talent in the frame. Unstaged, unprepared and with significant human presence we are in the true street photography realm where the decisive moment is everything. This visual symphony prints on Hahnemühle’s sustainable line Bamboo Gloss Baryta. A paper that with it’s 305 gsm lends a tangible presence to the composition. The glossy Baryta finish is guaranteed to reproduce the gallery lights and colour in finest detail as well as transforming the piece into a living entity, pulsating with energy. The textured surface, subtly rough beneath the print, hints at the raw emotion embedded within this photograph.
The overall frame is a majestic 116×210 cm of understated elegance, housing the 100 x 178 cm printed sight, a carefully considered composition that played with complementary colours and diagonals. The float mounted print will cast it’s shadow subtly, encased behind low reflective museum grade glass and further enhance the artwork’s ethereal quality, allowing the vibrant hues to breathe. The image itself, a long exposure piece, blur the lines between reality and abstraction, the urban landscape dissolving into a tapestry of colour and motion.
“Kinaassutsikkut allanngujuissuseq” is more than just a photograph; it was an argument, a juxtaposition of opposing forces. The vibrant reds and blues, a bold expressionist choice, speak of inner turmoil, a struggle for balance. Yet, the carefully constructed parallel lines, the deliberate asymmetry, and the elements of realism subtly woven into the impressionistic style, hint at an underlying order, a search for harmony amidst chaos. It is a decisive moment captured, a fleeting glimpse into the soul of the city, and by extension, the soul of Miiti; it became a powerful statement on the human condition.
This Curator’s Choice piece is a testament to the artist’s mastery of technique and vision, as exhibited in HBH Works’ collection. The frame-in-frame effect, created by the interplay of light and shadow and the lines involved, further emphasize the layered complexity of the image. It is a piece that demands contemplation, a visual poem that resonates with the viewer long after the initial impact. “Kinaassutsikkut allanngujuissuseq” is not merely a visual experience; it is an invitation to introspection, a journey into the heart of the self. New and fresh from the atelier, it is a piece destined to become a cherished addition to any discerning collection.
